Each time we enroll a new member, (well-meaning) teachers, providers, and family members tell us that same narrative: this young adult will never be able to enjoy gainful employment.
David was no different. When he first came to our program, nobody expected that he would one day have a job. His Autism and OCD would always limit his level of independence.
Today, through strategic goal setting, intentional tracking, and meaningful job carving, David works as a classroom aid at a local private school. Each day he completes the tasks necessary to keep multiple classrooms running and many teachers equipped.
Not only is David very good at his job, he loves what he does. He has become a vital part of the operation and an incredibly celebrated member of the team. David continues to impresses everyone that knows him by his commitment to growth and development.
Because of David’s hard work and the dedication of the Summerhouse team, someone who was once deemed unemployable now has a wonderful job!
