The Flying Point Foundation for Autism
Camp Flying Point has become a summer staple for my family in the last few years. Originally introduced to the 8-day program through our affiliation with East End Disability Associates, the experience has become an irreplaceable part of the lives of both my children.
My daughter, who is autistic, and my son, who has cerebral palsy, enjoy attending the program in Southampton every year. They look forward to seeing their friends, as well as staff, who they miss throughout the school year. They both love time spent in the pool, doing yoga, playing games and arts and crafts.
During the summer months, it can be challenging to find a fun and safe place for kids with disabilities and their siblings to spend time together in the sun. Camp Flying Point affords us that opportunity. Due to the reasonable tuition, and available financial aid, the camp is affordable for everyone who wishes to attend. The camp runs during those last, fleeting days of August just before school is set to start up again and is a perfect end to summer.
Every year, my daughter, in particular, comes home telling tales of time spend with friends, and begins each summer asking about when she is going back and who is going to be at camp. Without Camp Flying Point, the summer would not be complete.
