Our Lives Are Changing Daily. Bike to the Beach Is Up to the Challenge. [ March 17, 2020]
Bike to the Beach exists to bring together local communities of individuals, companies, and non-profits, all who support autism and disabilities. The health, safety and needs of our community is central to our efforts and planning, with added importance in the face of the coronavirus. We continue to monitor the effects of the COVID-19 virus and are taking steps to continue operating safely, with the intention of hosting our events. We are committed to providing safe, challenging, fun, and impactful offerings, which continue to fund critical services for the autism and disabilities community.
As of now, we are not canceling any of our events. We are monitoring the information and guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in conjunction with state and local health offices. We are exploring and implementing a diverse range of strategies and options, ensuring we deliver a safe and premier experience to our participants. We are confident our community can remain flexible and creative, allowing us to remain a robust source of funding for our partner organizations.
Especially in this time of confusion and constant change, we remain committed to supporting our non-profit partners. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families in our community who have been affected by this unprecedented event. We are especially mindful of the unique challenges our autism and disability communities face, wherein routine and regularity are particularly importance to those who are uniquely sensitive to disruption.
Our non-profit partners remain dedicated to support the community. If you need local support, please let us know. In addition, the Autism Speaks Autism Response Team is available for questions and help accessing tools, resources and support.
Your health and safety remain our priority. We will continue to keep you informed of our planning regarding COVID-19. As long as operations can be conducted in a safe and responsible manner, we will continue to do our best to serve our community.
If you are considering doing our ride, we urge you to sign-up. We are confident that our community will step up to the opportunity of supporting autism and disABILITIES this year.
We thank you for your continued trust and support.
