Our goal at bike to the beach is to inspire our communities to support local and National AUTISM & disABILITY Organizations. Support comes in many ways (raising funds, volunteering, advocacy, etc.), and, since we want our event to be inclusive to everyone that cares about our cause, we have adjusted our fundraising policy to be in-line with our goals.
Bike to the Beach participants are now required to raise either the minimum pledge of $500 OR earn 1,000 fundraising points through our fundraising portal.
This system allows riders who may not be able to reach the $500 minimum to support the ride and the cause in other ways, such as posting on social media, fundraising, and recruiting riders.
Historically, the majority of riders go far above and beyond the minimum (on average, most riders raise $1,000 and earn more than 2,000 fundraising points), and we hope that this new policy will to inspire our riders to both fundraise and advocate for our cause.
Now, you can satisfy your fundraising obligation by sharing your experience: telling your community that you are riding, sharing our partner stories, or recruiting friends to join.
Yes, we still want you to raise the $500.00 to support our Local and National partners. Each dollar raised supports important programs that make a real difference in the autism and disability communities. More, importantly, we want you to make the effort to fundraise and spread the importance of our cause to your local communities. The reality is that people love to support their family and friends. If you ask, people will support you. If you ask, you will hit the $500 fundraising goal. And, if you earn 1,000 points through your efforts, and fall short of your $500 goal, we will waive your fundraising obligation.
And, the best part: the fundraising points that you earn can be redeemed on our online store for bike to the beach merchandise. Click here for more information on our point system.
We’ll support you on every mile of your journey. We provide content so you don’t have to be an expert. We will provide personal and cause based emails in the weeks leading up to the ride so you don’t have to be a professional fundraiser or autism expert to communicate your commitment. We will give you emails and posts to hit your goal.
