Fundraising through your friends and family is the fastest way to reach your goals. Here are some tips to making it easy:

  • Use your Fundraising Site:
    • Customize your fundraising site- Create your own website about your Bike to the Beach journey. [Link to BlueSky Fundraising Page]
    • Send an e-mail to everyone on your contact list and invite them to visit the website. [Link to BlueSky Fundraising Page]
  • Neighbors– Write to all your neighbors on your block (or in your building). Attach a letter stating what you’re training for our Charity ride and ask them to make a donation to Bike to the Beach. Even invite them to join you for a training ride for support!
  • Delegate– Give 10 of your friends 10 pledge forms each and ask them to help raise money for you. Or text them your fundraising link, and ask them to text it along to 10 people.
  • Change Your Answering Machine Message –  Change your answering machine message to mention Bike to the Beach: “ Hi, this is ______.  After you leave a message, please go to BiketotheBeach.org to support my __-mile cycling journey to raise money for autism”. This will alert everyone who calls you at home that you’re up to something special! Let them know that you need their support!
  • Return Address Labels – Print return address labels for your outgoing mail. Print something like, “I’m riding in the Bike to the Beach. Will you sponsor me?” You may want to include a pledge form and a self-addressed envelope to make it really easy for them.
  • Color Pledge Forms – These can be very eye-catching. Send them in colored envelopes, too. These will stand out among your friends’ bills and stuff.
  • Signing your Correspondence – Get in the habit of signing your note cards and letters with your name Bike to the Beach. You’ll be surprised at how many people will ask you what that means. You can also add your fundraising link to your email signature.
  • Business Cards – Print up some inexpensive business cards (you can even do it on your own computer). Have Bike to the Beach information on the card and include your name, fundraising link, and why you are doing the ride. Hand these out to everyone you meet!
