Our Bike to the Beach Century route is designed be the safest and most efficient route to take our riders from Boston, through the suburbs of South Boston and Providence, down the East Bay Bike Path, over the Mt. Hope Bridge, and along the shore to Newport, RI.
The full route map is provided to you in your packet-materials. Get familiar with the route in advance, we also provide route cue-cards at each rest stop and mark the route with Bike to the Beach turn signs. There will be multiple SAG cars along the route offering medical, mechanical, and directional support as needed.
The B2B NE ride is broken up into 3 legs. The first from Boston to Taunton, MA, the second from Taunton to the East Bay Bike Path, and the third from the East Bay Bike Path to Newport, RI.
B2B NE Leg #1 – Century Ride
Where: Boston to Taunton, MA
Time: 5:00 – 9:00 AM (depending on pace)
Mileage: Approx 45 miles
Details: Most of this leg are on the streets of South Shore towns of Massachusetts and the populated suburbs of East Providence, RI. You will be biking with early morning traffic, biking safety and obeying traffic laws is always important. This leg will include rest-stops at the Crescent Ridge Dairy, Taunton, MA, and the West Dighton Christian Church.
B2B NE Leg #2 – Century Ride
Time: 9:00 – 10:00 AM (depending on pace)
Mileage: Approx 13 miles
Details: The 2nd Leg is on the East Bay Bike Path. Please obey traffic laws and stay in the designated bike lanes.
B2B NE Leg #3 – Century Ride
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (depending on pace)
Mileage: Approx 44.5 miles
Details: The 3rd and final leg takes you over the Mt. Hope Bridge, down the Western Shore of Aquidneck Island, and around the beautiful Cliffs of Newport past the famous Newport Mansions to the finish line. If you are not on pace to finish by 5:00 PM we may assist and ask to drive you a portion of the ride, but rest assured ensure you can bike across the finish line!
