Veteran rider, Marni Brown, rides for her 13-year-old nephew diagnosed with Asperbergers, the thrill of cycling, and not least of all, Kiwanis Chicken at the Club rest stop.
Brown has been a fan of riding, since 2011 and always admired the challenge of the century ride. When her friends introduced her to Bike to the Beach, the cause and cycling event made it a perfect match.
“Not only am I doing something I enjoy (cycling) when I ride, but I get to do something to support research that will help kids like my nephew,” said Brown.
One of Brown’s most memorable experiences was arriving at a rest stop with her friends after a long period of riding and discovering Kiwanis Chicken.
“When we saw that chicken it was like we died and went to heaven,” said Brown.
After a good dose of healthy protein, Brown and her friends found their “second wind” and were able to finish the ride strong.
Brown stays motivated by all of the efforts of support, whether it is by receiving donations, words of encouragement, or cheering her on during the ride, it is all an “amazing feeling.”
