Alby
Advocate – Achieve Kids
Achieve Kids
When Alby first came to AchieveKids a little over a year ago at age nine, he had never spoken at school and his academic level was virtually unknown. He was anxious, often avoiding school or fading to the background. Alby was slipping through the cracks at public school with his non-attending and because his behaviors were initially passive, creating a situation where he wasn’t doing any schoolwork nor growing in his skill levels. His attendance grew worse and when he did go to school he would get upset, and his passive withdrawal turned to acting out and destroying the classroom, which resulted in his getting sent home,
Today Alby attends AchieveKids daily and participates consistently. He is speaking in full sentences. We have learned how bright he is, and love watching Alby read aloud to his class. He is completing double digit addition and subtraction problems with ease, and his confidence has improved dramatically. When he is unsure of something, he asks questions and seeks clarification. He has embodied all of the Learning for Life Attributes.
Alby is Advocating for himself now through his verbal communication. He has shown he has the Ability to achieve both academically and socially. He is demonstrating Agility by working through roadblocks as they come or by asking for help when necessary. Ably is enhancing his Awareness by setting goals he wants to meet and making a plan to achieve them with his teacher. Alby demonstrates the Achievements we strive to see.
