Team Ryan
I am riding Bike to the Beach because I’ve seen first-hand, how life changing early diagnosis and intensive early intervention can be for children with autism.
At 2 1/2, my son Ryan was barely talking, had zero interest in interacting with other kids and was constantly having sensory overload meltdowns. Now, at almost 5, he’s a chatterbox with a growing imagination who LOVES his friends. He will be attending mainstream kindergarten in the fall with minimal behavior issues. Ryan has had access to a phenomenal public education program in Arlington County and amazing behavior therapists. And I’ve been lucky to have an amazing support system.
I know not every autism story is a success like Ryan’s, but with increased funds so every child on the spectrum could have access to the life-changing services that Ryan has had, I know every autism story could be. And that is exactly why I’m riding Bike to the Beach!
