Why I Ride by Michael Pearis

Every year, I participate in a charity bike ride to raise awareness and funds for autism. I ride not only for my son, Noah, but also for families with autistic children, their family, and friends.

I ride to raise awareness of autism and to support families like mine. I ride to raise funds for research and programs that can help people with autism reach their full potential. And I ride to show my son that he is loved and supported, no matter what.

But I also ride for others. I ride for the families who are struggling to get the support they need. I ride for the siblings who may sometimes feel left out. I ride for the friends who want to understand but don’t know how.

Every year, as I cross the finish line of the charity ride, I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. But more importantly, I feel a sense of community. I know that I am part of a larger movement to support people with autism and their families.

And that’s why I’ll keep riding. For Noah, for our family, and for all those who need our support.
