UCR WORKS Empowers Everyone

Preparing for Life and Employment

Upcounty Community Resources, Inc. is a small but mighty nonprofit serving several hundred adults living with Autism, I/DD and other exceptionalities. We create inclusive social, therapeutic, respite, life skills and WORKS job skills building.  While we cannot guarantee our community partners will hire our adults, we aim to equip attendees with skills in a variety interest areas.

Each member who completes a training session, receives a certificate for their file.  Many have collected certificates in restaurant/dining, auto mechanics, grocery, farming, bakery, catering and more.  They can take their folio of versatile skills to apply at businesses fitting their favorite skill set.  We created the folios to act as resumes, so even our folks who may be low verbal can apply for jobs.

This year, Paul, our attendee who excelled at the Common Root Farm site, was hired to work a few days a week.  We are thrilled for him, and he is the first of our members to achieve steady employment!

Some of our members who need more intensive guidance work in stores and the community with a 1:1 teacher and achieve success at their own pace.

We also boast the only rock band comprised of all neurodiverse members.  The NeuroDiversity Band performs for local and national conferences, events, proms and parties.  All the musicians collect a paycheck after each gig just like professionals in their field.

UCR is very happy to be partners with Bike to the Beach! Pedal On!
